Batteries for camera and flash. Use terminal covers or place in individual plastic bags. (See http://safetravel.dot.gov/index_batteries.html)
Battery chargers
Memory cards (we carry about 45 GB’s worth of Compact Flash Cards.)
Small laptop computer or portable hard drive
DVD Media or external hard drive for backup

The following list of additional equipment is recommended but not required to get the most out of the Cowboy Photo Workshop.
1 – DSLR camera body (2 camera bodies are preferred…minimizes lens changes and provides backup in the case a camera body malfunctions)
1 – wide angle zoom lens (we use a Canon 16-35mm f2.8)
Long lens not required but lenses such as the 300mm f4 or 300mm f2.8 to a 500mm f4 do come in handy and provide opportunites to produce unique close up images.
Rain/Dust Covers – not required but nice when the dust is flying. I carry a towel for dust and I have a 3′ x 3′ piece of nylon fabric sprayed with water repellent for rain/moisture.
Filters – polarized and graduated neutral density come in handy but are not required.
Binoculars – Nice for observation
Lens Pen or lens cloths, blower bulb
Lens hoods

The following video shows you what equipment we use in the field for wildlife and it is actually very similar to the gear we pack when we shoot at the ranch. Again, not all of this is required but it may give you ideas for your packing process. http://www.vimeo.com/4280462http://www.vimeo.com/4314489
Travel Items:
Travel items will vary greatly from workshop to workshop. Consider the season and take into consideration what workshop you are attending. All participants should bring clothing that is weather appropriate and is comfortable for a long day of shooting.
