Good times with Mike in Oregon – props to our friends Brian Brawdy and Chuck Devereaux
Also, a shout out to Fish Schtick listener Isaac Miller who dropped by to see us at the Tigard Dick’s Sporting Goods store (http://recycledfish.org/home/?p=1344)

The next event for Recycled Fish is a natural resources outdoor day in North Carolina from Ambassador Alec Plummer

If you’re in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Northern Iowa, come see us at the Albert Lea Ice Fishing Show at Northbridge Mall on November 21st and 22nd. A couple of our southern Minnesota ambassadors – Adam McCaleb and Jim Stewart - will have an “On Ice” edition of our Drop in the Bucket game and you’ll be able to win free Grabber handwarmers if you’ve got a sharp mind and a good arm.

Most of all – you heard it here first – the Recycled Fish Online Store is now open for business! (http://www.recycledfish.org/store/)

Guest Intro / Interview

www.johncrews.com (http://johncrews.com/)

John Crews is just over 30 years old and has already fished in the Bassmaster Classic four times. He’s had 15 top-10 finishes in BASS and FLW events, and his career winnings total better than half a million dollars. When he’s not on the water, he calls Salem, VA home where he lives with his wife and two kids.

> Where have you been fishing lately, what was your best outing this year?

> It takes a lot more than being a good stick to become an Elite angler – how did you get there, and get there so young?
> Your degree is in business and economics – does that factor into your job?

> What are the main misunderstandings that people have about what it is to be an Elite angler?
> What are the main differences between the way pros fish and how average Joes fish?

> Last time we saw each other was the Toyota Texas Bass Classic – what’s your take on that event?
> How much of your job is fishing, and how much is doing “other stuff,” and what’s that other stuff?

> Professional Bass Fishing is unlike any other professional sport in so many ways. Talk about some of those.
> When you’re on the water, you’re battling the elements – ever had any sketchy times?
> Your office is a boat and your co-workers are not just other anglers, they’re all sorts of critters. Had any animal encounters out there?

> You have roomed with Mike Iaconelli and Ish Monroe – how does that work?
> Any good stories for us on living with those guys?

> You’ve got a ton of stuff on YouTube. One of my favorites is “top 10 BS lines fishermen use.” Give us one of those.

> What is hot, new and fresh that people are going to want to know about?
> What are you looking forward to for the 2010 season?

> Bassmaster Classic field was announced today – any comments on that?

Conservation

We’ve talked recently about the risk of losing access to waters, and it’s happening everywhere, public and private.

Danny Blandford from the PAA – the Professional Angler’s Association (http://www.fishpaa.com/) – joins us today on the Fish Schtick. Danny went to Indiana University and majored in public affairs with an emphasis in environmental management. He stuck it out for a master’s degree, and earned one in environmental science with an emphasis in water resources.

He’s not just a theory guy though. He was a member of the Indiana bass club, and served as president for four years. He’s been the Conservation director for the Indiana BASS Federation too. Danny fished competitively for a number of years and even won the Indiana Federation Championship in 2003. He’s competed in the B.A.S.S. Northern Opens, and spent five years as the business development manager for Skeeter boats.

Earlier this year, he took a new gig with the PAA (http://www.fishpaa.com/), so we’ll hear about that and all the stuff they’ve got cookin’ – including a partnership with Recycled Fish and our 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon – in just a minute.

The 24 Hour Fish A Thon is finally here! (http://recycledfish.org/home/?p=653)

Guest Intro / Interview

Technically, Danny Blandford’s title is “Business Development Manager” at the PAA, but in practice, he’s more like head cook and bottle washer. Since his coming on board at the PAA earlier this year, he’s gotten a bunch of fresh new things started and we’ll hear about those, plus some inside scoop on what happens behind the scenes in the world of professional bass fishing. Danny – welcome to the Fish Schtick.

Danny – we’ve got lots to cover, but first, how’s fishing?

Tell us a little about yourself – give us your life story in a couple of minutes.

So this year, you joined the PAA and not long after, we got acquainted. Since then, there have been two projects that we’ve worked on together – the Professional Angler Auctions and the Recycled Fish 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon, which is this weekend.

Let’s talk about Professional Angler Auctions first – what was the first round of auctions like, and what can people expect from the next round of auctions?

Professional anglers have also been very generous to help with our 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon. (I’ll give a little summary of the Fish A Thon). If it were you – and if you won Fish-A-Thon and got to pick, which of these trips interests you the most, Danny?

Another big event with the PAA name connected to it is coming up in just a few weeks, the Toyota Texas Bass Classic. Tell us a little bit about that event. (Teeg is also going to that and will be fishing in the Pro-Am, so can touch on that.)

The PAA has – as far as the world of bass fishing goes – a pretty star-studded board of directors. Talk about these guys a little bit.

As a guy who is involved with Professional Angling, talk to us a little bit about what the differences you see are between the pros and guys who fish for fun on the weekends.

Is professional fishing a glamorous gig? Are these guys really better anglers, or just better at marketing themselves?

Your anglers come from both the BASS and the FLW sides – few guys fish both – what’s the difference that you see?
