Bryan Huskey is a freelance photographer, film maker, fishing guide, and magazine ad-rep. For a “real” job he works in media and marketing for Silver Creek Outfitters in Ketchum Idaho. He also shoots as much video and photos as he can – he says for selfish reasons. We’ll unpack some of his recent stories today.

It’s the time of the year for Top 10 lists, looks back, and those annual clips shows. We’re no different, we like to look back on all the awesome people we’ve talked to and recount some of our favorite moments on The Schtick.
On today’s show, a man who trots around the globe with a fly rod in one hand and a video camera in the other. His latest film, Soulfish 2, goes far beyond the traditional fly fishing destinations like Alaska or Patagonia. Today Mikey Weir takes us to Egypt … yes Egypt … the place with the desert and the camels and the pyramids … plus Mongolia, Mexico, Belize, Hawaii, Louisiana and British Columbia. Oh, and did we mention April Vokey? We did now. Stories abound on today’s Fish Schtick.
Robert Thompson makes fishing movies, and right now, one of them – Musky Country: Zero 2 Hero – is terrorizing screens across the country on the Fly Fishing Film Tour. Robert comes from Montana by way of Michigan, he’s in Chicago now. He’s handy with a camera and tells a great story about the wack-jobs who chase Musky tales with fly rods … we’ll get some good stories out of him on today’s Fish Schtick.
Thad Robison has joined us before on The Fish Schtick, and when we have a guest back, you know they must be good. He’s one of the people who makes the Fly Fishing Film Tour possible, but he’s also on the road right now for Motiv Fishing. They’re a crew of adventurers who are filming their exploits in a series called Geofish. Thad is currently in the midst of an epic 8,000 mile fly fishing expedition from Oregon to the Yucatan Peninsula.
It’s that year-end time when everybody looks back at the peaks and valleys of the year, the hits and misses, the highs and the lows. This show is dedicated to that – some of our favorite Fish Schtick guests and moments from the year gone by.

Our guest today is Eric Rathbun founder of Reel Pure and partner in crime on Moldy Chum. Frustrated with the old school fly fishing attitude Eric launched Reel Pure for regular anglers with an irregular love for fly fishing. Eric’s experiences as a rookie fly fisherman convinced him that there was a need for a grassroots lifestyle fly fishing brand that spoke to those of us who were turned off by traditional fly fishing marketing. The concept was not only ahead of it’s time but developed a loyal following and brand presence that far exceeded its small collection of products. In 2007 a Reel Pure and Moldy Chum Vulcan mind meld was initiated resulting in a great partnership and an even better friendship. When steelhead aren’t kicking his derriere, he hangs in Redmond, WA with his wife and two pooches…Eric, welcome to the Fish Schtick!
On today’s Fish Schtick, Mikey Weir. Fans of the Fly Fishing Film Tour know Mikey as the man behind Burl Productions, who brought Soulfish to that collection of short films. Chum readers have seen him with preposterously large Slab of the Month entries, he’s got a jaw dropping Sierra rainbow buck in the current competition.
