Fishhound Fishing Report

Lake Chelan Adventures says the Lake Trout fishing absolutely could not be better. 19 lake trout in 4 hours one day this week. Listen to this: The Ace Hi-Fly by Silverhorde with the Smile Blade by Mack Lures in front is what’s working.

Monheim Guide Service says that there are a lot of perch are biting in 10 – 14 feet of water and better than a foot of ice on South Twin Lake near Conover, Wisconsin.

Over on Erie, Erie Outfitters near Cleveland says that western basin walleye fishing is off with a bang. Trolling Perch Deep Huskys 70 feet back at 1 mph is tops right now. Huge limits are being caught with 8 Pound walleyes just being average. Steelhead fishing is also going well. Grand is the best right now ,smaller rivers are getting low and clear so conditions can be tough but no lack of fish. Catch ‘em with flies or drifting.

For a free report on waters near you, www.fishhound.com (http://www.fishhound.com).

Fishhound Fishing Report

Sport Fish Colorado reports that ice fishing has been a little funky, and you might watch the ice near shore – soft in a lot of places. The bite seems to be picking up at Antero Reservoir, if you want to give that a shot.

Down in Texas, you might try Grapevine Lake near Dallas. The water is clear, and black bass are good on watermelon Texas rigged worms, watermelon finesse jigs, lipless crankbaits, and Jackall Squad Minnow jerkbaits along the main lake points. Crappie are biting good on minnows, white bass are good on slabs, and catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut shad.

Captain Brian Brown reports that bass and crappies are going good on Kentucky Lake – and listen to this – nothing is out-fishing the Alabama Rig. Lots of current in the lake as they try to keep it at winter pool.

For a free report on waters near you, www.fishhound.com (http://www.fishhound.com).

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Brought to you by BossTin (http://bosstin.com/) - makers of environmentally friendly fishing weights for the fly and conventional tackle angler. Did you hear that Washington State just tried to pass a ban on lead?

The United States Ice Fishing Team packs its bags for a trip to Kazikstan next month, where the current world champs will face off against ice anglers from around the world to see who can take home the gold medal.

Across the Ice Belt, events continue to be cancelling or rescheduling on the Recycled Fish “On Ice” Tour but from the Dakotas and Minnesota, Wisconsin – that northern tier of states – and north, ice is looking good.

Along the Washington / Oregon border, 2012 seasons are set for salmon and sturgeon. Expecting a strong run of spring chinook salmon but a further decline in the white sturgeon.

Also in Washington,</itunes:summary>

The Texas Water Safari is a 260-mile paddle race from the Texas Hill Country to the Gulf Coast. Run continuously since 1963, the course follows the San Marcos and Guadalupe Rivers to the coastal fishing town of Seadrift. Paddlers must complete the race in 100 hours. While the exhausting pace and blistering heat are reason enough to bow out, it's the ancillary hurdles that often eliminate racers long before the finish line: dam portages, water moccasins, logjams, mosquitoes, dysentery, alligators, sleep deprivation, and equipment failures. Paddlefish is the first complete narrative ever published on The Texas Water Safari.

Fishhound Fishing Report
In Texas, Texas Parks & Wildlife reports clear water and good fishing at Victor Braunig lake near San Antonio. Black bass are good near the jetty and dam, Striped bass near the pier and Dead Tree Point. Redfish are fair if you wanna run spoons on downriggers around the jetty and dam. Channel catfish and blue cats are biting good, too.

Mike Davis Outdoors reports that fishing on Old Hickory Lake in Tennessee was tough this week with the wind, but if you could find a spot that was not so choppy, you’d catch ‘em good. One day this week his guest caught over 30 bass. All fish we caught on topwater, crankbaits and swimbaits. Fun way to fish.

At the North Landing River in Virginia, Dewey Mullins says that bass are very active. Crappie have not schooled up yet, but you can still get one with a minnow, jig or small spinner. The white perch have schooled up and will take a small spinner, night crawler or a minnow or jig. Stripers are in the creeks, too.

Guest Intro

On a sweltering summer day in 2010, Christine Warren stepped into a 24-foot canoe and paddled toward a goal that she never previously imagined possible.

Confluence Outfitters says Battle Creek has been fishing well. There is plenty of water, but not too much. The spring chinook are spawning, so the native rainbows are on the egg grab. And there are good hatches, so the rainbows are looking up.
Colorado’s Sprague Lake is fishing great if you ask Kirk’s Fly shop. About a size 16 Flashback Pheasant Tail, trailed with a pink San Juan Worm #16 or an egg pattern is gonna git ‘er done. On top you could use a Size 20 Yaegers Neversink Gnat or a Parachute Adams.
Out of Panama City, Florida, The spanish mackerel are in full force. Spoons, small diving lipped lures, Christmas tree rigs & smaller live baits will all work. The fall kings are not far behind. There is still an occasional sailfish around as well. Contact Captain Linda’s Kayak fishing for more – and a great Baja Fish Taco recipe.

Guest Intro
It’s been a while since we did a regular episode – the last couple have been video specials, so we wanted to show the love for our audio podcast amigos. Plus, all three of us have been on the road and had some crazy adventures. Unfortunately, Brian’s sick today and that’s too bad because he had some epic stuff go down in BC and before that, he was over on Cape Cod. You’ll have to settle for Mike and I but we promise not to disappoint.

Brian / Moldy Chum News (http://www.moldychum.com/)
If Brian WAS here, I know what he’d say. He’d say that they had low expectations when they headed to B.C. to meet some steel, but they found fish. Even when the water is high, the fish are there, and they scratched a few out. But on their last day – and epic day – 8 guys caught 40 fish. For Pacific Northwest steelhead, there’s only one way to describe that, and it’s EPIC. Brian said he caught one of the most gorgeous, perfect specimens of hen steelhead that he or his guide had ever seen. Not a scale out of place. Wish he was here to tell you for himself.
On The Chum: A Backyard to Nowhere is the top post – this film is going to make a ton of buzz. It’s also profiled in this month’s This Is Fly, and you must – must – must read about it. Check out the trailers on the Chum and you’ll know immediately why we’re scrambling to get these guys on the Schtick.
On October 12 – a very interesting post in which skeptic Dr. Gerald Smith, a fish biologist from the University of Michigan, challenges whether Asian Carp really pose a risk to the Great Lakes.
And on October 11 – Frankenfish are getting closer to store shelves: thanks, FDA.
Plus, Ashton Kutcher may have legitimately caught the fly fishing bug, there’s a Hatch sticker on his Mac – Fitz Cahall’s Season 2 – and the current Slab of the Month voting is on. A crazy Montana brown trout is leading with almost 60% of the vote,</itunes:summary>

Fishhound Fishing Report
The Montana Angler in Bozeman reports that the Lower Madison is 5 stars right now. Good flows temps, so look for big eats if you are willing to commit to a hopper. Nymphs almost always outfish dries on the lower. Fish the buckets between the weedbeds or the fast runs for the most action.
Brian is still out east, and the stripers are going good. Concord Outfitters in Connecticut says the Farmington is back in tip top shape. The high water has receded and the silt has settled down. Good fishing throughout the TMA to be had right now. If you've been holding off due to high water flows, stock your boxes with tan caddis and pheasant tails and you should be in good shape.

Probably the best fishing in the Ozarks right now is on the White River below Beaver Lake if you listen to Just Fishin’ guides in Bentonville. Wade it from the dam to Parker Bend, but you’ll find the better fishing from just above Cane Break to Parker Bottom. The river bottom has changed with some new holes, so be careful. Try small streamers and soft hackles early, then nymphing later in the day.

This week at ICAST, I saw FLW Pro Angler Scott Martin talking about Fishhound, so I shot a quick little Fishhound Viral Video Short. Not only does Scott use Fishhound to get ready for his tournaments, he reports the conditions he finds when he’s fishing.

Hear it from him:

ICAST was a blast! Thanks to all of our partners who helped spread the word.
It’s time for our July Update to Stewards – that’s out now.
Our new We Are Stewards shirt is out, get one and you could win a custom built rod from Dragon’s Custom Rods.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds
It’s good news if you’re one of the companies who took honors at last week’s ICAST awards, here’s a quick list of some of the winners in this special ICAST edition of 120 Seconds.
Best of Show award went to Berkley Nanofil line, which also won in the fishing line category. Not a braid or a superline, this is a low stretch, low diameter monofilament. Neat stuff. Berkley’s parent company, Pure Fishing, also took more awards than any other company this year – by a landslide.
Frabill took best of show for their Frabill Suit – we also liked advancements in their Conservation Series nets line of products.
Best Boat award went to Hobie for the Hobie Mirage Revolution 11 – Hobie always does an awesome job.
Daiwa had the best combo, and G Loomis won in both best rod categories – best fly rod and best conventional fishing rod.
The Costa Women’s Collection turned heads in the eyewear category.
VestPac won Best Fly Fishing accessory with their DriftPac, and TFO won best Fly Reel for their BVK Fly Reel, even though this isn’t really a fly show.
Speaking of reels, Abu Garcia’s Revo MGX was the show-stopper in conventional reels, those Revos are just amazing.
Pure Fishing also won in kid’s fishing with Shakespeare’s Casting Game & Sound Fishing Kit.
We loved seeing Patrick Sebile roll out a single-hook design crankbait, and it got the Best Hard Lure honors this year – another win for Pure Fishing.
Koppers LIVE TARGET Hollow Body Mouse won for soft baits with an addition to their super-realistic line of baits.</itunes:summary>

He caught a massive sunfish – a redear that weighs over five pounds – and people who don’t even get that excited about fishing have been forwarding that photo all over. It’s made the rounds on every fishing forum, sites like Go Fish’n and of course lots and lots of love on Facebook. The best thing about it is that the guy who caught it is just a guy like you or me, just somebody who likes to fish. The Fish Schtick is presented by SPOT HUG. It’s a satellite based device that provides peace of mind for boaters both when they’re on the water, and when they’re not.
The devastation across the country this year has been just horrible. Sensational flooding and tornadoes especially. SPOT HUG can’t prevent stuff like that, but it can make it less awful, and help recover what’s been lost, not to mention preventing mini-disasters that happen every day.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Good news in Louisiana. The CCA and others are building a 4 acre, half million dollar reef near Grand Isle, restoring habitat lost to erosion. Construction is getting underway right now.

Bad news in Maryland. Maryland DNR found whirling disease in 8,000 rainbow trout stocked in several Western Maryland streams. Sucky.

In New York they’re getting ready for the 30th annual LCI Father's Day Derby on beautiful Lake Champlain, the nation's 6th largest freshwater lake. More than $750,000 is up for grabs in cash and prizes.

Massachusetts! As part of a Year of the Turtle conservation campaign, Mary Griffin, Commissioner of the Department of Fish and Game, will help release over 100 endangered Northern Red-bellied Cooters this Friday, May 27 at the Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area in Hanson. Turtle Turtle.

Oklahoma – in time for Memorial Day Weekend – don’t boat drunk. Governor Mary Fallin just signed Senate Bill 324, which went into effect immediately - lowering the legal blood alcohol content in Oklahoma from .10 to .08.

Colorado – Aurora reservoir put out yet another record fish – this time a SUCKER, earlier this month. If you’re in Colorado and not fishing Aurora reservoir … why not? That place puts out a new state record of one species or another every few months. Amazing lake.

In Pro Bass Fishing Dave Mansue of Texas has been elected President of the Professional Anglers Association by the PAA Board of Directors.

This week’s Stewardship Tip: Don’t dump your bait. Colorado DNR checked bait shops to see what was in their tanks. Out of 60 shops, only TWO had a single species of fish in their tanks. That means over 95% had “other fish” mixed in with their bait, and it’s those “other fish” we don’t want introduced into our waters.

Mem Day Weekend – all the crazies will be out. Be safe. Be smart. Be safe.

The Fish Schtick is presented by SPOT HUG. It’s a satellite based device that provides peace of mind for boaters both when they’re on the water, and when they’re not.
I did a little math on what it might cost to protect your boat with a SPOT HUG. Let’s say you have a $25,000 boat, which is pretty easy to do. Now let’s say you put $20,000 in electronics and gear in your boat. You’ve got $45K sitting there. The SPOT HUG is going to cost you 1% of your boat’s investment. Would you spend $450 to protect $45,000? It’s a no brainer, right? Let’s say you’ve got a $5,000 boat with $5,000 in electronics and gear. It’s still only like 4.5% of the boats value to give it SPOT HUG insurance. And if you’ve got a REALLY nice boat – like a $100,000 boat – and it doesn’t have a HUG on it yet … c’mon. Get one. You owe it to yourself, and your boat.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Good news in the Gulf. Just one day shy of the one year anniversary of the BP Oil Spill, all waters in the Gulf of Mexico have been reopened to fishing.

Flooding! It’s not just happening down south. Army Corps of Engineers blew a 2-mile hole in a Midwestern Mississippi River levee in Missouri this week to relieve pressure on levees elsewhere – safer to flood fields than towns. Up in the Northeast, Lake Champlain in Vermont is so high that some access areas are closed, and the floodgates remain open at places like Table Rock Lake and points further south.

Maryland – Poaching continues on the striper population. Listen to this, NRP found 1400 yards of illegal gillnet with more than 3 tons of dead rockfish hanging in it. Looked like the net had been set back in January or February and then abandoned. The net was so heavy with fish they had to come back with an icebreaker to pull it from the sea. Nearly all of the fish were dead and had to taken to the landfill. Whoever did this deserves a cell with a wide-eyed guy named Tiny.

Florida – way down there on Islamorada – The first Islamorada Fishing Film Festival is scheduled for Sunday, May 22. Honors Billy Pate Jr., who went to the great salt flat in the sky back in April. It’s a fundraiser for the United Way of the Florida Keys. They’ll show the 1973 classic, “Tarpon,” among others.

On the interwebs – the guys behind the popular GoFish’n site roll out Bassnation in the coming weeks as a companion to the newly redesigned Bassmaster.com (http://Bassmaster.com).

It’s Arbor Day! Friday, April 29, 2011

The Fish Schtick is presented by SPOT HUG. It’s a satellite based device that provides peace of mind for boaters both when they’re on the water, and when they’re not.
Horrific weather has ripped across the southeastern US and our prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones, those who are in hospitals recovering, and the thousands who are dealing with homes that are lost or damaged. Of course insurance claims will help, but these are a reminder that nature is powerful – and if you can afford to be prepared in advance, you should. SPOT HUG is one of the most useful tools for preparation if you’re a boat owner, because it will let you know what’s going on with your boat at the onset, during, and following a severe weather event. Heck, if your boat got lifted into the sky in a tornado, you’d be able to figure out where it got set down again, and probably even have some idea what condition it was in, even before you got to it.

Guest Intro

Lawrence Euteneier is a Canadian who is one of the hottest sticks on his local lakes. He’s got a knack for getting a deep bend in his rod on big, big fish. So you know he’s gonna have some good fishing stories for us. But here’s what makes him unique. He’s blind.

He’s blind – but he still takes his boat out and enjoys successful outings. By himself.

So how does he do it? He invented a boat that talks to him. It’s amazing, and he’s a funny dude – you’re going to love today’s Fish Schtick.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Sad news in the southeast where tornadoes have devastated towns and lives. Its affecting fishing, too. For example, all ramps on Lake Martin in Alabama are closed until further notice.

Missouri and Arkansas – crazy high water and flooding, Table Rock is at record high levels and running over the emergency spillway – all the big spring bass tournaments: canceled or postponed.

Oklahoma shocked up a couple massive bass during spring surveys – fish over 11 pounds swim the waters of Arcadia and Wautonga in the Sooner State – go stick ‘em. Then put ‘em back so somebody else can.

Montana is thinking about a new rule that if you want to launch a boat on their waters, you have to go through a check station first. What do you think? They’re looking for public comment at three hearings in May.

Florida – if you’re on the beach and see horseshoe crabs doing the making-more-crabs thing, tell the FWC.</itunes:summary>

Guest Intro

Travis Lowe is a TV production guy from Canada. Got his start in corporate video, which killed his soul...so 20 years ago he moved out west from Toronto and started a career as an ENG Television News Cameraman , for a national network, which killed his soul dead..... but at least he was in British Columbia. He then picked up a fly rod and claims his soul has been right ever since? Travis still works in television news, grinding out stories day in day, out like a sausage factory but on the side he does what he calls “passion projects” (in whatever spare time he can find). We asked him to spend some time with us today to talk about his “Spring Creek Film” project. The tagline is Ranchers, Anglers, Water and Trout … if you see this setting up for a pretty interesting show … well … so do we.

Got to do some trout fishing in NE Iowa
Big hit up in Albert Lea, MN
Headed to Washington!
Really fired up about this water problem in Iowa

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Bad News – In Iowa, Republican Governor Terry Branstad wants to move oversight of the state’s waters from the Department of Natural Resources over to the Department of Ag. The Department of Ag has always fought DNR on clean water issues – and now we want to put them in charge? Really? Don’t let this happen, write this Gov. Tell him what’s what.

Nebraska and other states are on the water now and for the next few weeks harvesting walleye eggs. There’s no hatchery like the one mom nature made.

Florida – this is the time to take someone fishing! First weekend in April, you don’t need a license down there.

Indiana - Upper Long Lake in Noble County: let’s break out the big baits and swing for the fences, you’re getting muskies. For the next 5 years there’s gonna be a privately funded stocking effort.

Arizona just set a record. The 2011 Outdoor Expo drew a record 37,500 people last weekend. That’s good! Getting outdoors in Arizona. Good.

In your supermarket – Human DNA now spliced into the salmon you’re eating. Yep. The FDA says it’s okay. What could possibly go wrong?

This week’s Recycled Fish Stewardship Tip: Been eating fish for lent? Right on. Know what’s on your plate, and only eat sustainable seafood. Farm raised salmon: bad. Cod: Good. Well. Maybe. Depends on where it comes from. Get a Seafood Watch Pocket Guide or the iPhone app so you know for sure.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Good news – Enough Fishing Line to Stretch Across the Country has been Recycled by the BoatUS Foundation’s Reel in and Recycle Program. 2,700 miles of fishing line was recycled through over a thousand locations across the country, last year.
In Ohio – several hundred thousand trout were plunked into waters across the state last weekend, go get ‘em!
Maryland – The waters around Chesapeke Bay are heating up and with that comes the annual yellow perch run.
Colorado – Ice Out is coming but not before Marina March Madness. Eleven Mile State Park will host the last event of the Colorado Classic Ice Fishing Tournament ice fishing series, the "Marina March Madness," on March 5. Hourly cash prizes, kids!
In Florida - The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is proposing to raise the daily redfish limit from one fish to two per person in northern Florida, but to make bonefish Catch & Release Only statewide. We like one of those ideas better than the other, and the redfish rule ain’t the one we like.
Maryland - $30,000 if you know who poached Rockfish. Maryland Department of Natural Resources is now offering $30,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for attempting to steal 10 tons of rockfish off of Bloody Point in the Chesapeake Bay.
On the internet – Wildlife Forever just updated their website to pump up the fight against invasive species. Check ‘em out at WildlifeForever.org (http://www.wildlifeforever.org/).
This week’s Stewardship Tip: Recycle e-Waste! Computers and stuff. Important.

Fish Schtick Show Outline – February 4, 2011 – Ice Fishing Spectacular 2011

The Fish Schtick is presented by SPOT HUG. It’s a satellite based device that provides peace of mind for boaters both when they’re on the water, and when they’re not.
Mike was just down in Florida shooting a video for their new product.

Guest Intro

It’s a very special episode of The Fish Schtick – one have looked forward to since last year’s Ice Fishing Spectacular. That’s right! This is the 2011 Ice Fishing Spectacular episode, and have we got some great guests for you?

We do!

Jason Mitchell makes some of the best rods on hard water, hosts an outdoor television show, and guides in both open and hard water in the Dakotas.

Nathan Krusko is one of the loudest voices for the sport of ice fishing, particularly in the Northeast. He and his fishing partner Chris founded Northeast Ice Fishing and they recently took a win on Lake Oneida in on the Northeast Ice Tour Tournaments.

Speaking of the Northeast Ice Tour, the tournament director – Byron Eckhardt joins us. Byron is also the brains behind the Northeast Ice Fisherman Magazine, and his “first ice” editorial was so good, we had to get him to read it for us.

Rounding out the show is a guy who is one of the rockstars of ice fishing, Brian “Bro” Brohsdahl. Bro has a host of products named after him, and he’s unquestionably one of the biggest names and busiest men in the sport.

It’s a star-studded cast on today’s Schtick for this special episode.

Brian / Moldy Chum News

Who cares what’s new on the Chum – let’s hear about Christmas Island!

Teeg / Recycled Fish News

Crashed Chuck’s Truck

We had a crazy good event for the Lake Manawa Ice Bash
Congratulations to all of our anglers in the Big Creek Hardwater Open
Getting ready for Des Moines Winter Games and dozens of other “On Ice” Tour events

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Good news – Maybe even REAL good news. Out of a laboratory in New York, reported by the Lake Tahoe Daily… a new biological treatment may be useful to eradicate Zebra Mussels. Pseudomonas fluorescens is a bacteria that has killed 100% of zeebs in lab tests, and better yet – doesn’t seem to harm other native species in the ecosystem. Hope it works, and we’re not trading one bad for another bad thing.

Arizona – could it be? First ever Gila trout season? Maybe. In Frye Mesa Reservoir… Arizona has never had an open season on Gila trout. They were thought to have been extinct, but conservation measures and aggressive stocking have brought them back. Now there’s a hatchery surplus – so what should we do? Stock, catch, kill and eat them, of course. This is America!

Wisconsin announced the 2nd Lake Delton Youth Fishing Jamboree. It’s June 4th, and the event highlights and celebrate the restoration of Lake Delton, the Dells area and its now-restored fisheries. Delton is a success story following its complete de-watering after a 2008 natural disaster.

Today’s Fish Schtick is a special episode for Stewardship. Things like catch and release and selective harvest have caught on, for the most part, but our waters are still in a lot of trouble. In fact, if you ask the US EPA – and we did – they’ll tell you that of our fresh and inshore salt waters, about half – 49% - is so polluted that it can’t support a healthy fishery. Is unsafe for drinking. Is not recommended for swimming. Half. Half our waters in America. This is not a third world country, this is America. And that may be the problem. What’s going in our waters has to do with our everyday choices, because our lifestyle runs downstream. But our waters also reflect our value system and in America, too often, it’s about getting mine, going bigger, better and faster. The good news is that our waters can be made healthy again, but it takes all of us working together and that takes not just sportsmen, but stewards. We’ll hear from three leaders in stewardship today – Zach Porter from All Against the Haul, Leah Elwell from Clean Angling, and Mike and I interview our own Brian Bennett who sits on the board of the Wild Steelhead Coalition. It’s going to be a powerful show!
Before we hear from our special panel of guests, we’ve got the latest news from Moldy Chum, Recycled Fish and Mauro Media – which we couldn’t do without the help of our new friends at SPOT HUG. Mike – tell us about SPOT, you’ve done a bunch of work with them.

Good news – The BoatUS Foundation's Grassroots Grants Program just got some freshening up. Now the public gets a vote in who receives funding. They’ve already given away a million bucks and if you’re up to something good, you could get in on this year’s grants. Application deadline – April 1. No foolin.

Alaska - Trout Unlimited is out with a major study evaluating the economic impact of Salmon and Trout Fisheries on Southeast Alaska Regional Economy.
This unprecedented study finds that salmon and trout contribute nearly $1 Billion annually and account for 10 percent of regional employment. May this study be a nail in the Pebble Mine coffin.

Montana – Will felt soled waders be banned? A bill to ban the use of felt soles has been drafted in the Montana State Legislature. Trout Unlimited says that with a few tweaks,</itunes:summary>

Around the World of Fishing – August 27, 2010

Good News: US Fish & Wildlife is giving $600,000 to fight Quagga and Zebra Mussels in Western U.S. Waters.

In other Good News: Louisiana has re-opened all waters to fishing following the BP Oil Spill.

Across the Country: National Hunting and Fishing day is coming up September 25th. The goal? To equip every hunter, angler and sport shooter to more effectively communicate the conservation benefits of traditional outdoor sports.

Did you know? License sales and special taxes on fishing and hunting gear generate $100,000 … every 30 minutes. That’s over $1.75 billion a year-for fish, wildlife and habitat?

It’s true.

On the Gulf Coast the Redfish and Kayak fishing tours are relocating their events within Louisiana due to “logistical issues” presented by the oil spill.

In Minnesota – It’s state fair time and August 28 is Sportsman Day. Wish every State Fair had a day like that.

This week’s Stewardship Tip – Aerate Your Lawn. Believe it or not, this helps your grass grow without needing fertilizer, and it also helps reduce runoff. That’s good for our waters.

More fishing hoopla at MoldyChum.com - Stewardship Tips and more at RecycledFish.org.

I’m Teeg Stouffer and we just went around the world of fishing in 120 seconds.

Guest Intro / Interview

The first time I went really fast in a bass boat was with Darren Gallaher. I had been in plenty of bass boats, and I had been in plenty of fat boats, but I had never been in a bass boat going really fast, and it was an experience I will not forget. It was terrifying. My butt puckered so tight that it nearly swallowed my cheeks.

What’s fishing been like this year?

Where do you do most of your fishing?

You told me a story about fishing some of these local tournaments once – how’d that go?

Who have you gone fishing with that we know?

I know that you like Deadliest Catch better than Orange County Choppers…

You’re actually going to be on MTV’s “Teen Mom” or “16 and Pregnant,” aren’t you?

You’ve been at the fishing game a long time, tell us about that.

Ever had an animal try to get in the boat with you?

Ever fallen out of the boat?

You do some work with a bunch of brands and products, I know you do some stuff with our friends at Pure Fishing. Anything new or cool happening over there?

Where’s your next fishing tournament?

It was a natural combination to produce a gallery of beautiful fish art and to give anglers who wanted to hang a trophy on the wall an opportunity to do it through original painted art.
