Bill Klyn is the marketing director for Patagonia. Without reservation, we can say that Patagonia is one of the absolute top brands associated with social and environmental responsibility, not to mention incredibly good products for getting out into the environment. Today Bill joins us on The Fish Schtick because he’s also the mastermind behind a new project called Pirates of the Flats (http://www.orionmultimedia.net/ewire_page_07_09_09_GroundBreakingFishingESPN2.html), debuting ESPN2 in January 2010 in partnership with the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.

Pirates of the Flats follows legendary news anchor Tom Brokaw - who also narrates the series -- famous actor Michael Keaton, angling icon Lefty Kreh, acclaimed author Thomas McGuane, Patagonia’s visionary industry leader Yvon Chouinard, and celebrated photographer R. Valentine Atkinson as they rendezvous with each other on the famed saltwater flats of the Bahamas. Their quest? The island's legendary bonefish. But these notables are fishing for answers, too. How can we save these last great coastal environments? It's a question that has been the heart of Bonefish and Tarpon Trust's mission since 1998, and is being pursued by some of the world's top scientists from the Cape Eleuthera Institute (http://www.ceibahamas.org/), Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (http://www.tarbone.org/), and The Bahamas.

The man who broguht it all together is Bill Klyn, and he’s our guest on today’s Fish Schtick.

Guest Intro / Interview

Bill Klyn is a busy man – he oversees marketing for Patagonia, the company who produces gear that makes possible countless outdoor adventures for millions of people around the globe – not to mention 1% for the Planet (http://www.onepercentfortheplanet.org/en/), the World Trout Initiative (http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/patagonia.go?slc=en_US&sct=US&assetid=32942), Common Threads Garment Recycling (http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/patagonia.go?slc=en_US&sct=US&assetid=1956), and much more.

He’s also recently returned from the Bahamas, where he hung out with the likes of Tom Brokaw, Michael Keaton, Lefty Kreh, Yvon Chouinard and others to chase bonefish and film the new project “Pirates of the Flats” for ESPN which will raise awareness for critical saltwater environments, and how to protect them.

Bill Klyn, welcome to the Fish Schtick.

How was the fishing?

We’ll talk more about Pirates of the Flats, but let’s hear about you – how did you wind up doing what you’re doing?

Patagonia is headquartered in California, but you’re not there – tell us about where you live and how that works.

Patagonia makes stuff for all kinds of outdoor adventures, what are your passions in the outdoors?

How did you get involved with Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (http://www.tarbone.org/),</itunes:summary>
