Fish Schtick Podcast – 91 – 2011 in Review
It’s the time of the year for Top 10 lists, looks back, and those annual clips shows. We’re no different, we like to look back on all the awesome people we’ve talked to and recount some of our favorite moments on The Schtick.
Fish Schtick Episode 88 – Richard Louv
Richard Louv’s biography ends like this: he would rather fish than write. But between “Richard Louv is…” and “…rather fish than write,” is the story of a man who has written eight books and coined the term “Nature Deficit Disorder.” The book that kicked off an international conversation about the relationship with children and nature is entitled Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder. His latest book, The Nature Principle: Human Restoration and the End of Nature-Deficit Disorder offers a new vision of the future, in which our lives are as immersed in nature as they are in technology.
Fish Schtick Episode 79 – Ron Higgins
Lake Conroe is famous as a big bass lake. Ron Higgins calls it a home water, and has seen fish over 13 pounds come aboard his boat. He also plies the waters of Lake Livingston and Lake Houston, and not just for bass. Stripers, Wipers, Catfish and Crappies are common quarry at Higgy’s Freshwater Adventures, and he’s got some good stories to tell on today’s Schtick.
Fish Schtick Episode 78 – Jeff Kolodzinski
Jeff Kolodzinski holds one of the more interesting world records in fishing. Biggest bass? Longest Lingcod? Fattest Flathead? Nope. He holds the record for the most total fish caught in a 24 Hour Period. This is not part of the Recycled Fish 24 Hour Fish-A-Thon, there’s another organization – Fishing For Life – that also does its own Fish-A-Thon and Kolo is their spokesperson. Jeff just broke his own world record – you aren’t going to believe how many fish he caught, it’s amazing. But you’ll also love why he does it.
Fish Schtick Episode 72 – Memorial Day 2011
After a couple of weeks off, we needed to catch up. With Memorial Day Weekend ahead, we wanted to reflect on some of our favorite fishing trips and outdoor adventures in the past couple of years, too.

Fish Schtick Video Short – 2011 Bassmaster Classic Expo – Larry Nixon
Larry Nixon has fished in more than two dozen Bassmaster Classics, including winning it in 1983. He’s a millionaire in the sport of fishing through both the BASS and FLW tours, and he’s still actively fishing.
Fish Schtick Episode 62 – Randy Blaukat
Randy Blaukat has competed on the Bassmaster Tour for 20 years and the FLW Tour for 13, fishing more than 300 tournaments with BASS and FLW Outdoors combined. He has fished in 17 Bassmaster Classics and Forrest Wood Cups, earning around $1.5 million on the Bassmaster and FLW Tours. One thing makes him stand out from the crowd in a remarkable way – his unequaled, unusual dedication to our environment and our waters, and his view on the “big picture.” Randy Blaukat lives off the grid. In his athlete profile, his hobby isn’t listed as “hunting” or “NASCAR” or “time with family,” it says this: Environmental Education.
Fish Schtick Episode 50 – Brian Snowden
Brian Snowden had a heck of a year. He’s a professional bass angler from Reeds Spring, Missouri. That’s the Ozarks – Table Rock Lake Country. He recently won what is arguably the biggest bass tournament in the world – the Toyota Texas Bass Classic. Sure, the Bassmaster Classic is called the “Superbowl of Fishing,” but only the B.A.S.S. guys fish it. The FLW Tour and the PAA Tour, they have nothing to do with the Classic. At the Toyota Texas Bass Classic, the best anglers from the FLW, the best from BASS, and the best from the PAA come together to duke it out on Lake Conroe. And this year, Snowden came out on top. He ended the year strong too, taking third on his home waters in the last PAA Tour event of the year.
