Guest Intro / Interview

In the world of bass fishing, it would be hard to find many authors who have done more to spread the word on conservation and stewardship issues than Robert Montgomery. He goes far beyond catch and release and exposes pollution issues, the front lines of invasive species, and a host of other issues. His current book, Better Bass Fishing (http://www.countrymanpress.com/titles/BetterBassi1.html) provides a more holistic look at the "big picture" of bass fishing. In addition to how-to information, it reveals secrets for becoming a better bass angler through scientific knowledge on bass biology and the effects of weather. Better Bass Fishing encourages a thoughtful approach to fishing and the realization that success is tied to more than just using the right bait. Robert, welcome to The Fish Schtick.

First off, how’s fishing?

We want to talk about your book, bass fishing, all these conservation issues, but first give us a snapshot of who you are – give us your life story in a few minutes.

You know a lot about catching fish, but more often than not, your writing leans toward fisheries and conservation. In magazines full of how-to and where-to articles, yours spotlight issues. Why is that, and why is it important?

You’ve been at this game for a while now – how long have you been writing, and what are some of your favorite things to have done?

The book – Better Bass Fishing (http://www.countrymanpress.com/titles/BetterBassi1.html) – covers more than what lure to tie on, it mixes science and nature with a more holistic approach, talk about that a little.

Your book is also full of bite-sized tips and tidbits,</itunes:summary>
