Brian / Moldy Chum News

Lots of good chum, Brian – what do you want to hit?

Teeg / Recycled Fish News

I’m back from the Bassmaster Classic – over 350 new members and a great time

Off today for Fishapalooza in Forest Lake, MN

Final stop on the “On Ice” Tour is the Ice Roads clinic at Okoboji

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

Good News: Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced this week that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will distribute more than $862 million to support conservation and education programs across the country. $862 million dollars, that is good news.

Texas – if you catch ShareLunker #500 it’s going to be worth $500 per pound of fish. That means at least a $6500 check, because ShareLunkers are 13 pounds or greater. Texas Parks and Wildlife uses these giant fish their hatcheries so they are keeping the best genetics in their lakes.

Des Moines, Iowa – My home town – congratulations Bill Gassmann, he caught what appears to have been the new world record Peacock Bass on a trip to Brazil in February. Looks like it will best the previous record by a full pound!

On your TV –Pirates of the Flats on ESPN won a Silver Telly Award -- the council's highest honor – in the Nature/Wildlife category. They also got Bronze for Use of Graphics, Editing, and Videography.

Ohio is trying something new in crappie management. 38 lakes have been added to the list for a 9 inch minimum on crappies.

Alabama – Congratulations to pro anglers Gary Klein, Shaw Grigsby and Timmy Horton for being awarded the BoatU.S. Foundation Environmental Leadership Award.

This week’s Recycled Fish Stewardship Tip: Aerate your lawn. That means the need for less – or no – fertilizer and less runoff, and that means good things for waters, fish and fishing.

Andrew Bennett’s name is associated with places like Alaska West, BC West, and Andros South. Whether it’s bonefish on the flats or giant egg munching rainbows in Alaska, his life is spent in the best waters in the world. Everybody says the name of his company wrong, it looks like it would be “Duh-Neck-EE” Outdoors. We’ll have him set us straight, Andrew, welcome to The Fish Schtick.

What’s your best fish story of the year from each of your locations?

Do you ever get to fish?

Photography is a big part of the experience, talk about that a little.

Guest Interview

So we know you've been doing some fishing lately....give us the low down on your latest excursion.

You also had a chance to lead the Moldy Chum field trip to Baja (http://www.moldychum.com/home-old/2009/5/29/we-came-we-saw-we.html), what was that like?

Give us some insight into your life story and how you came to launch Reel Pure.

How has the industry changed since you first came up with the Reel Pure concept.

There was quite bit more to the initial Reel Pure concept that people are not aware of.....

People have shown their allegiance to Reel Pure brand in some pretty powerful ways.....

What happened with the Real Estate company that clipped the logo?

Tell us about your role on the Chum.

Conservation

Hot conservation topics on the Chum: Frasier is in trouble (http://www.moldychum.com/home-old/2009/8/18/down-goes-fraser.html)

Support HR 2565: The National Fish Habitat Conservation Act (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-2565)
the National Fish Habitat Conservation Act (NFHCA) will establish a comprehensive national framework for conserving, restoring and enhancing fish habitats throughout the United States. Modeled on the successful Migratory Bird Joint Ventures and North American Wetlands Conservation Act, the Act will provide for essential funding for fish habitat protection, restoration and enhancement through regional partnerships that engage local partners in conservation action and provide a solid science-based and strategic approach to on-the-ground conservation efforts.
