Our guest this week is Jeff Turner, whose mission is to embark on a nationwide quest with his son, Taylor…a quest to Fish 50 Trophy Waters in 50 States in 50 Days. Jeff and Taylor’s journey will span 15,000 miles by land, 6,000 miles by air, and cover 500 miles by water … with no shortcuts.

Their Cause:  To inspire others across the nation to realize their dreams for adventure and connect once again.  To find and live out adventure in their lives – to build a lasting memory – to rekindle long lost relationship – to Leave a Legacy. It’s about Father and Son, Parent and Child, and something far greater than any one of us.

They hit the road on Saturday, June 13th – and Jeff Taylor is our guest on this week’s Fish Schtick.

Guest Intro / Interview

This is the first time for me to talk about this on a public scale, but here goes. Jeff and I share a vision. Over the past years, without either of us knowing it, he and I were working on the same project – to fish 50 States in 50 Days. Michael Mauro has a major hand in this vision. His production company, Mauro Media, shot a pilot for what will be come the Recycled Fish 50 States in 50 Days project last fall. Our goal: To fish 50 States in 50 Days, catch a fish in every state, and use that excitement to teach people the ways in which our lifestyle runs downstream. Together with professional bass angler Marcia Rubin, our friend Randy Heavin from Patriot Records, videographer Dirk Ruge and editor Travis Ford from the Mauro Team, have been assembling something that could change the way we all look at water, and our lifestyle. Our plan has been to hit the road of Spring 2010, so when we learned about Jeff and Taylor’s adventure going out this summer, we knew we had to somehow join forces. It’s an honor to welcome our new friend, Jeff Turner, to today’s Fish Schtick.

- On your website – Fish5050.com – you quote John Eldredge’s book “Wild at Heart.” You say, “Every page seemed to cry out to what I was longing for in life – ADVENTURE!  As Eldredge so eloquently writes: “Deep in his heart, every man longs for a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue.”  Paint a picture for us about what is going to happen on this big adventure

- What has it taken to get all of this together, in terms of planning?
- Why are you doing it? Tell us about your inspiration.
- There’s a story about you and your dad, the photo on the website. Can you share your Fish of a Lifetime Story?
- How will you be fishing?
- What waters are you really looking forward to?
- Will you be targeting species you’ve never caught?
- How in the world are you paying for all of this?
- You say on the website you’re just a ‘regular guy,’ what does that mean?
- What are the outcomes you want to see from this?

Conservation

We always make it a point to cover some of the key conservation issues, so in keeping with your travels, we’re really proud to announce that Jeff and Taylor have taken the Recycled Fish Sportsman’s Stewardship Pledge, and have gone so far as to post it on their website at www.Fish5050.com.

What are some of the unique conservation dilemmas you’ve come upon in planning your trip, and how have you overcome them?

Final Word

Jeff, want to close us with a really good quote from your website?
