Andy Heathcote is the director of a film called ‘The Lost World of Mr Hardy.’ The movie explores the history of Fly Fishing through the Hardy Brothers company and other British fishing tackle craftsmen. The film has been a big hit in the UK and is now available in the United States, so we’re happy to give a first look at the film to our Fish Schtick friends.

Around the world of fishing in 120 Seconds

120 Seconds is now brought to you by GreenTackle.com. One of the products they sell is called Bioline: http://www.greentackle.com/bioline-fly-fishing-tippet.html

Across the country: The BoatUS Foundation is seeking nominations for groups who are helping boaters and anglers pursue their sport in a “green” way. Call for entries is underway through December 15 for the 2010 BoatUS Foundation Environmental Leadership Award.

In Pittsburgh, PA: The American Fisheries Society honored Wildlife Forever with the 2010 Conservation Achievement Award for conserving fisheries and promoting management through conservation education and collaboration. Way to go, guys!

In Texas: Brian Snowden won the Toyota Texas Bass Classic – that means more than a big crystal trophy and a sparkly ring, it means a new bass boat and a check for $110,000. Wow. He edged out Mike Iaconnelli.

In Colorado: This year Colorado boat inspectors checked over 200,000 boats for invasive species, and they found 8 boats that would have brought in zebra or quagga mussels – all from other states.

In Nebraska: A lake near you either just got a bunch of rainbow trout, or it’s about to. The fall trout stockings are underway.

This week’s Stewardship Tip – Let’s hunt lions. Or at least lionfish, an invasive species in the salt water of the U.S. Southeast. They’re invasive and creating problems, but they’re also tasty. Catch ‘em and keep ‘em.

Guest Intro / Interview

Andy Heathcote: Director – Camera

“Mister Jim” is how the employees today address Jim Hardy, last of the family to work for Hardy’s and now retired. Back in 1873, his Grandfather and his Great-Uncle Hardy opened their small shop in the far north of England. They were passionate fishermen and so they invented fishing tackle. The criteria: “Only the best is good enough.” Andy Heathcote at Trufflepig Films set out to create a film that would tell the story.
